Greyton House Village School
"A childhood to remember"

Greyton House Village School is an independent, co-educational English-medium school, catering for children from Grades 00 – 7, situated in the beautiful village of Greyton in the Overberg, Western Cape, just 140km from Cape Town.

The school creates “A Childhood to Remember” in a wholesome and secure country environment, encouraging innovation and creativity, both in learning opportunities and in the development of the children. An impromptu, open-air science laboratory or a practical lesson about alien vegetation or rivers, or a clamber up the gorge, are all within a few minutes’ walk of the school.

Education at Greyton House strives to build confident, respectful and enriched children who are academically and socially equipped to face the challenges of a wider world. We provide a caring environment where each child’s unique potential is unlocked and celebrated.

The school offers a fully representative curriculum presented by highly competent, experienced and dedicated teachers.

Greyton is known as the “Jewel of the Overberg” and no wonder: apart from the exquisite setting, it must be one of the few places where parents can safely allow their children the freedom to cycle to friends, walk to school, skip down to the café and fish in the river.

We agree with Nelson Mandela, who used the quote: “It takes a village to raise a child.”

Greyton House Village School will aim to provide a nurturing environment for the development of each child to his or her full potential. The school currently offers education from Nursery (3 years old) to Grade 7.

  • Academically by means of a curriculum, which, in addition to a solid grounding in all subjects, will incorporate skills needed to meet the challenges faced by children in modern society.

  • Emotionally and socially by the recognition of the uniqueness and worth of each child, and the fostering of mutual respect in all relationships.

  • And spiritually, by encouraging the adoption of Christian values and the practical application of these values in daily life and society at large.

The High School

In 2013 Greyton House was identified by the Western Cape Government and local municipality as the ideal school to grow into a high school. Currently, Greyton House is the only private English medium school in the Overberg. A 8ha portion of land, just at the entrance to Greyton, has been set aside for this purpose and we are currently completing the Environmental Impact Assessment. Once this is complete the school will move on to this land and the construction of the high school will begin. We are currently looking for sponsors. If you are interested or require more information, please contact the school.
